My blog “Improving Police” was first published in the fall of 2011 in order to publicize my book which was going to be released the first part of 2012, “Arrested Development: A Veteran Police Chief Sounds Off About Protest, Racism, Corruption and the Seven Steps Necessary to Improve Our Nation’s Police.”
Since that time, the blog has taken off and been an important voice in the nature and art of policing a free society.
After the death of Michael Brown by police in 2015 and then followed by a number of highly visible and questionable deaths by young Black men, this site was booming. It averaged 130K views in 2015 and 2016. This past year had over 66K visits.
Each year, I have reported on the activity on this site which now has nearly 1,500 posts and 1,800 followers. Thanks to each and every one of you who have been on this site. You come predominately from North America, but I have also heard from police and other citizens from over 130 countries, Thank you.
